Cooling Demands in Electrified Powertrains
Electric and hybrid vehicles rely heavily on thermal management systems. The Auxiliary Cooling Pump is essential in regulating multiple thermal loops, including battery packs, inverter modules, and onboard chargers.
In EV platforms, multiple auxiliary pumps may be installed:
Battery cooling loop pump
Power electronics cooling pump
Cabin thermal pump support
Typical EV Auxiliary Cooling Pump specifications:
Voltage: 12V or 48V systems
Flow rate: 20–100 L/min
Thermal range control: -30°C to 60°C coolant operation
Power: 50W–300W
These pumps are controlled via CAN bus communication, allowing real-time modulation based on battery state-of-charge (SOC), ambient temperature, and driving load.
Battery systems generally require strict thermal stability:
Optimal battery temperature: 25°C–40°C
Emergency cooling activation threshold: >45°C
Without auxiliary circulation, thermal imbalance may reduce battery efficiency and accelerate degradation.
