Key Components of Automated Forging Systems

Fully Automatic Forging Machines are advanced industrial systems designed to convert raw metal billets into precisely shaped components using controlled pressure, heat, and automation technology.

These machines combine multiple systems into one integrated workflow. The main components include hydraulic presses, induction heating units, billet feeding systems, die sets, cooling systems, and PLC-based automation controllers.

Hydraulic press systems typically operate with nominal forces ranging from 1000 kN to 12,000 kN. The ram stroke can extend from 260 mm to over 1000 mm depending on machine model. Working pressure is generally maintained around 25 MPa to ensure consistent force delivery during forging cycles.

Induction heating systems prepare metal billets by raising temperatures to approximately 1100°C–1250°C for carbon and alloy steels. This ensures the material reaches a plastic state suitable for deformation without cracking.

Automation is a key feature of these machines. PLC systems manage feeding speed, forging timing, die alignment, and ejection timing. Some systems include servo-driven feeders capable of positioning accuracy within ±0.1 mm.

The forging cycle generally consists of:

Automatic billet loading

Controlled heating

Transfer to forging station

Hydraulic pressing

Die shaping

Cooling and discharge

Depending on product design, cycle times can range from 20 seconds to 60 seconds per piece.

Fully Automatic Forging Machines are widely used for producing industrial fasteners, mechanical joints, automotive parts, and structural steel components. Their ability to maintain repeatable accuracy and reduce human error makes them suitable for continuous manufacturing environments.
